Liverpool - You'll Never Walk Alone

Liverpool's trophy cabinet must be made of strong stuff; the Anfield side have won more domestic and European trophies than any other English club, making them the most successful team in English soccer history.

Their first league championship title was won in 1900-01, under the management of Tom Watson and since then the Reds have won 17 league titles and five European cups - only AC Milan and Real Madrid have won the European prize more.

When Bill Shankly became manager in 1959, it was the dawning of Liverpool's most successful era. It was Shankly who took the club back into the First Division in 1962 and they have stayed there ever since. Shankly was replaced by his assistant Bob Paisley in 1974 and Paisley's record speaks for itself. In his nine years in charge of the Merseyside club he won 21 trophies and brought in some of the all-time Liverpool greats and Kop legends in Alan Hansen, Kenny Dalglish and Ian Rush.

The Reds are one of only five teams to have been awarded the UEFA Badge of Honour, a prestigious honour awarded to clubs who have won the European Cup five times or more. Liverpool are in good company - joining Real Madrid, Ajax, Bayern Munich and AC Milan on UEFA's list.

Liverpool's last league title came back in 1990 and they are yet to win the Premier League trophy. However, the Reds have won seven major trophies since the Premiership began: the Champions League, UEFA Cup, two FA Cups and three League Cups. And they've reached the Champions League final twice in the past three seasons under Rafa Benitez.

With players like Torres, Reina, Kuyt and Gerrard on board that coveted league title can't be far away.
