Henrik Larsson: The King of Kings

Few players have captured the hearts of a set of fans quite like Henrik Larsson. The Swedish international is still worshipped by the Celtic faithful years after leaving Park Head for Barcelona. The man they call the 'king of kings' scored an incredible 173 goals in 221 appearances for the Hoops - not bad for a player that cost the club just £650,000.

Larsson won four titles in his seven years as a Celtic player and his impact was such that in 2002 fans voted him into their greatest team of all time, the only foreign player to receive that honour. When he left the club in 2004, even greater accolades were to come his way.

Frank Rijkaard brought Larsson to Barcelona to play alongside the likes of Ronaldinho, Deco and Samuel Eto'o, but far from being overawed by his surroundings, the striker shone at the Nou Camp. After a first season plagued by injury Larsson came into his own. He won two La Liga titles during his time in Catalonia and was the major influence in Barca winning their first European Cup for 14 years.

Larsson came off the bench in the Champions League final against Arsenal in 2006 to change a game that Barcelona were losing 1-0. The Swede played in Samuel Eto'o to equalise in the 76th minute before crafting the winner for Juliano Belletti four minutes later.

Although Barca were keen to keep the striker he returned to his native Sweden to play for Helsingborg. But his travels were not over and a three-month loan spell at Manchester United followed, where he added three goals and earned himself a Premier League winner's medal before returning to Sweden. An excellent servant to the Swedish national team throughout his career, Larsson formed an excellent striking partnership with Zlatan Ibrahimovic at Euro 2008 and remains one of the deadliest finishers in the game.
